Job Description: Job Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for responding to tenders or
Requests for Quotation (RFQs) in the industrial, commercial and institutional
market by developing accurate, complete and competitive estimates. These
tenders may be new construction projects or retrofits to existing complexes.
The Estimator will review estimates with the Chief Electrical Estimator.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting
a thorough review of specifications and drawings.
Developing
thorough material take-offs.
Coordinating
price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and
architects regarding tenders.
Obtaining
sign-offs on estimates.
Preparing
tenders by quantifying, organizing and tabulating all material, equipment,
labour, and subcontract costs needed to complete the project.
Participating
in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and
operational/sector meetings with the Chief Electrical Estimator, Project
Manager, and Purchasing may be required.
Providing
assistance to the sales force in developing proposals may be required.
Adhere
to all company policies and procedures.
Perform
all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in
accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company
policies and government legislation/regulations.
Adhere
to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
Perform
other duties as assigned by Management.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
Minimum
5 years estimating experience in a trade background or degree/diploma in
electrical engineering.
High
school graduate.
Proficiency with Accubid
(electrical estimation software).
Trade
Certificate would be a great asset.
Excellent
analytical and organizational skills.
Ability
to communicate effectively both written and verbal, is essential.
Proven
ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
